The Mets look to push their current win streak to nine games overall, eight on the road, and thirteen of fourteen. They'll send their ace Mike Pelfrey to the mound (9-1, 2.39 ERA) to square off against the Yankees version of Pelf, Phil Hughes (9-1, 3.13 ERA). The starting squad for today's 1:05 PM game:
1. Jose Reyes SS
2. Angel Pagan CF
3. David Wright 3B
4. Ike Davis 1B
5. Jason Bay LF
6. Chris Carter DH
7. Jeff Franceour RF
8. Alex Cora 2B
9. Henry Blanco C
This should be quite the interesting matchup as both pitchers are young, hard throwing right handers with 9-1 records and a ton of potential. Hughes' lone loss on the season did come at the hands of the Mets back on May 22 when he went 5.2, gave up eight hits, three walks and four earned. He did strike out seven, though. The winning pitcher in that game? Mike Pelfrey. He went six, gave up eight baserunners (two walks) and only one earned while striking out five. So Hughes will be looking to exact some revenge.
