The Mets open up their last series against the Yanks this season by heading into the Bronx for a 7:05 PM showdown. The Mets will send lefty Hisanori Takahashi (5-2, 3.48 ERA) to the mound to face righty Javier Vazquez (6-5, 5.43 ERA). The lineup:
1. Jose "Rapido" Reyes SS
2. Angel "I'm Christian, not" Pagan CF
3. David "So wrong, but oh so" Wright 3B
4. Ike "Sorry dad" Davis 1B
5. Jason "Sittin on a dock by the" Bay LF
6. Chris "The Animal" Carter DH
7. Rod "Can we ban the knuckleball?" Barajas C
8. Jeff "Frenchy" Franceour RF
9. Ruben "My name is not Miguel" Tejada 2B
For those of you curious about the Ike nickname, his dad was an All-Star for the Yanks in 1981, as a reliever.
When texting a good friend of mine (a Yanks fan) back and forth earlier, he mentioned that the Yankees are 3-10 in games he's attended this year, including the last two against the Phils. I asked him if he'd be going to any of this weekend's games and he responded that wouldn't. So I promptly offered to buy him tickets to each game. No dice.
The Mets look to make it seven straight on the road, eight straight overall and twelve out of thirteen. Hopefully, Yoichi Terada has been right by Takahashi's side the whole week. We wanna keep this thing going.
