Hisanori Takahashi threw six scoreless innings against the Yankees on May 21 and he did so again on Friday. Only three other pitchers in the live ball era (or in the Yankees' Babe Ruth era - each began in 1920) threw six or more scoreless innings in each of their first two starts against the Bronx Bombers: Sidney Ponson (1998), Scott Sanderson (1990) and Ray Culp (1968).
Friday's 4-0 Mets win was only the second shutout by a visiting team at the new Yankee Stadium. The first one was also by a National League team, exactly one year earlier: Craig Stammen and four Washington relievers blanked the Yankees, 3-0, on June 18, 2009.
