The Mets look to pick up their second straight road sweep/sixth straight road win and seventh consecutive win overall. In the 7:05 PM finale, they'll throw R.A. "Trickey" Dickey (4-0, 2.78 ERA) to the mound opposite potential Mets acquisition Jake Westbrook (4-3, 4.62 ERA). The lineup:
1. Jose Reyes SS
2. Angel Pagan CF
3. David Wright 3B
4. Ike Davis 1B
5. Jeff Franceour RF
6. Chris Carter DH
7. Henry Blanco C
8. Jesus Feliciano LF
9. Ruben Tejada 2B
This will be a good opportunity for us to get an up-close and personal look at Westbrook, as he has reportedly been on the Mets' radar for the past month or so. As mentioned in our previous post, Dickey will look to become the first Mets pitcher since 1999 to start off 5-0 in their inaugural season with the team.
The only Met to have recorded any at-bats against Westbrook is Henry Blanco. In his career, Blanco is 3-10 off Westbrook with two doubles, an RBI and two strikeouts. I'm guessing that's why he got the nod. I wish Blanco was from the Bronx, just so I could hear him say, "I'm Henry Blanco, from the Bronx". All you Carlito's Way fans out there will get that one. All the rest of you, sorry for the cheesy reference.
Apparently, either Bay was not feeling up to par for today's game or he was unsuccessful in convincing Jerry to let him play. I hope it's the latter.
