So, yea, I said it wouldn't be a regular column, but how was I supposed to know the Mets were so historical? Today, though, I will only be bringing you one nugget of Mets' history.
On this day two years ago, the Mets fired Willie Randolph and Rick Peterson in the shadow of the night. I'm sure we all remember that it was past midnight in LA when the deed was done, and thereby past 3 AM here in NY. They then promoted bench coach Jerry Manuel and Triple-A pitching coach Dan Warthen. As we all know, both remain in their positions today. In NY, going two years in your position is like 10 years anywhere else.
